According to Eurostat, Spain’s construction sector increased by 14.4% year-on-year to January 2015, compared with an EU average rise of only 3%. In monthly terms, Spanish construction activity grew by 2% from December 2014 to January 2015 – double the figure for the EU as a whole. Provisional figures from Spain’s central statistics institute show the country’s economy grew by 0.9% in the first quarter of 2015.
