The penthouse in Melbourne’s tallest apartment tower has sold off-plan to a Chinese buyer for AU$25 million. The property sale at Australia 108 sets a new record for an apartment sale in Australia, according to agent CBRE.
The penthouse owner will have access to a private entrance foyer on level 98 and their own glass lift to ascend to level 100. The 75-sqm apartment spans the entire top floor of the 108-storey building and will contain at least four en suite bedrooms.
The owner is able to customise the space, having purchased at this early stage, some four years before completion is due. CBRE residential projects managing director Andrew Leoncelli says: “That way you’re not buying someone else’s vision.”
Around 90% of the building’s 1,105 apartments are already sold. Leoncelli adds: “We have had strong interest from local owner-occupiers in particular.” One local family has paid AU$9.3million for five apartments which they plan to merge into two very large residences. Two more local have bought AU$3.5million apartments as a city base close to their workplaces in Southbank.
